Pastoral Assistant: Key Stage Lead  

Pay dependent upon experience (£26,075 - £28,412)

PhoenixPlace is a specialist independent school (established 2014) for girls with complex social, emotional and attachment difficulties. Rated as ‘good’, we provide education across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for two Pastoral Assistants to join our vibrant and growing school starting in January or as soon as possible.

We are in an exciting period of the schools journey as we will be moving into a new site, enhancing our curriculum, resources and therapeutic intervention and we seek candidates that are forward thinking and can contribute significantly to the positive growth of the school and our students.

The school needs someone who is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for students with additional needs, and can establish a quick rapport with staff, students and parents. 

Working as part of the Pastoral Team under the direction of the Pastoral Manager, you will 

  • Be responsible for the pastoral care/well-being, progress, discipline and guidance of all students in the assigned Key Stage 
  • Be the first point of call for any issues regarding students in assigned keystage
  • Ensure that all behaviour & attendance recording are chronologically in place

Skills, knowledge & abilities required: 

  • Good interpersonal skills including mediation and conflict resolution.  
  • Awareness of legislation relating to school attendance.  
  • Awareness of legislation relating to the welfare and protection of children.  
  • Supporting behaviour and establishing interventions to support students
  • Effective communication with children, carers and other professionals.  
  • Ability to display an understanding of social/welfare issues as they affect children, families and schools.  
  • Ability to work on own initiative within departmental protocols/procedures.  
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure  and adapt to ever changing demands of the school community
  • Ability to prepare and write reports and produce factual and statistical information as required.  
  • Knowledge of the education system
