Teaching & Learning Support Assistant (TLSA)   

PP - Independent Salary Scale: Pay dependent upon qualifications and experience:  


Grade 2: (£21,324 - £21,678 FTE), Term Time (£18,289 - £18,593) 

Grade 3: (£22,039 - £22,408 FTE), Term Time (£18,902 - £19,219) 

Grade 4: (£22,784 - £23,558 FTE), Term Time (£19,541 - £20,205)  


Full time (8.30am-4.00pm) Term time only  


PhoenixPlace is a specialist independent school for girls with complex social, emotional and attachment difficulties. We provide education across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a passionate Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to join our team who can contribute significantly to the positive growth of the school.  We are a small and specialist provision, currently educating up to 24 students with the aim to increase capacity over the next few years.

The right candidate will be someone who is dedicated to improving outcomes for students with additional needs, and can establish a quick rapport with staff, students and parents. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Working as part of the Teaching & Learning Support team under the direction of the SENCo, you will  

  • Work under the guidance of the class teacher to support the management and organisation of teaching and learning in the classroom (form group based)
  • Assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment 
  • Promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop 
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school 
  • Contribute to the personal and academic progress of all students to enable them to become independent learners and help to raise the standards of achievement for all students.  


THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: 

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above. 
  • Empathy and understanding of students needs 
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations.  
  • Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (desirable) 
  • A proven ability to work on their own initiative. 
  • A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults. 
  • The ability to use relevant technology/equipment. 
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude. 
  • A commitment to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school
